Blizzard Updates World Of Warcraft With Apple’s M1 Chipset SupportWhile Macs aren’t exactly known for gaming, some developers do choose to create Mac versions of their games in addition to Windows. Blizzard is one those developers where the company has been known to create Mac versions of their games alongside Windows, and not just as an afterthought.

However, with Apple shifting to M1 ARM-based chipsets and ditching Intel’s x86 processors, some gamers are wondering what this could mean for future Blizzard tiles. While we can’t speak for the rest of Blizzard’s portfolio, World of Warcraft gamers might be pleased to learn that Blizzard has announced that they are adding native support for Apple’s new M1 chipset.

This will come in the form of the latest patch to the game which should be released this week, so if you haven’t updated the game yet, you should. However, Blizzard notes that while testing has been successful, they are aware that there are potential day one hiccups that could occur, especially with a major shift like this, so if you are planning to run World of Warcraft on an M1 Mac, you might want to keep an eye out for potential issues.

That being said, it is possible that World of Warcraft could still have run on the M1 chipsets even without native support, thanks to the Rosetta 2 translation software, although how ideal this would have worked out is anyone’s guess.
